It's the end of the world. Let the looting begin!

In the three years since aliens occupied the Earth and enslaved humanity, business has been good for cyborgs Jim and Dave. Selling cloned seals to the alien overlords for big profits, having merry Sunday-morning shoot-outs with their fellow humans, and tooling around in their souped-up, semi-sentient Dodge Dart Swinger, the future's so bright, they've got to wear mirrorshades.

But then the sixteen year old terminally-ill CEO of the world's largest mega-corporation has to go and ruin all their fun by unleashing an untested nano-weapon against the aliens. Designed to attack and eat the aliens and their bio-technology, the Spill sends the Wultr screaming from the planet. But left without a food source, the Spill soon turns on the very humanity it was designed to liberate.

Now, facing a one-two punch of alien retaliation from orbit and an out-of-control and rapidly evolving nano-weapon that sees all life on Earth as food, humanity's last hope for survival rests with Jim and Dave... and they're more interested in looting than saving the world.

Any way you look at it, humanity is doomed.

I can't decide whether to rate this book 4 or 5 stars. Overall I loved the story and the writing was quite well done. The thing that bothered me was I couldn't decide how to feel about the two main protagonists (Jim and Dave). I wanted to like them (especially Dave) but their emotions/drive just seemed so disconnected from normal humanity I found it hard not to hate them as well. I'm sure this is what the author had in mind, but I found it distracting. However considering what they did for a living, perhaps I should have expected it.

Thinking about it a little more and comparing it to stories where I despised most of the characters in the book (but still loved the book - The Gap Cycle by Stephen R. Donaldson). I have to give it a 4. It's still worth reading but not "oh wow" like some of the others.

Spill eBook JI Greco Reviews

It's come to the point where I just automatically assume that anything Greco writes is going to be amazing. With his latest novel, Spill, my assumptions have proven to be right on the money. Although set in the same universe as his Reprobates of the Wasteland novels (but a couple hundred years prior), Spill is more than just a prequel. Greco has expanded his evil (and hilarious) universe by leaps and bounds. This book is pure fun on an epic scale. But it's also an impressive bit of world building. Greco not only manages to link this story to the previous novels (Take the All-Mart and We're Going to War), but he also manages to make connections to a couple of his other short stories. For those who have read his other work, Spill is filled with these "Aha!!!" moments that reveal whole new layers to his work and to his universe. And if all that wasn't enough, the book also works as a stand-alone novel. So newcomers can dive in head-first and not feel lost. Although... after you read it, you will probably have an insatiable desire to read all of Greco's other stories as well. --- RJ Lanning, SFNetcast.com
The book was funny and entertaining enough, but there were several typos and grammatical errors throughout (apart from the intentionally poor English of the aliens) that were distracting.
for the end of the world it was lacking. you became so bored you wanted the world to end. the people who escape are trying for a sequal but i wouldn't care what they would do next
I felt like I opened the book in the middle and started reading. It took me a while to get familiar with the characters and the story. After 20% of the book read I was still thinking to give it up, but then I pushed myself to continue reading and at the end it wasn't so bad as it looked at the beginning. But still some typos and grammatical errors lower the book quality. So from me 3 stars and I would say skipping this book you wouldn't miss anything special, there are definitely much better books.
Did not like for the first few pages, but grew on me as I read on.
Very funny account of alien invasion and a cure that turns out to be as bad as the disease.
Best part of this novel is the way the aliens come across as mentally handicapped, the phraseology they use
had me rolling on the floor. Cannabalism, genocide, apocalypse, all are presented as really bad musical theater,
and did I say funny as heck? Anyway, the humans decide to get rid of the aliens with nanotech, proving correct the adage
that you should never invent something you cannot uninvent.
Highly reccomended, unless you have no sense of humour whatsoever
I would give this three stars (thinking 3 1/2) but the horrid grammar throughout bumped it down to two stars. The story is three and a half stars to me because it was different and quirky enough to hold my attention. The mental picture of the two main characters tooling around in an old Dodge Swinger and some of the other images were cool. The idea that human race invented a weapon that cast off the yoke of oppression just to destroy itself was intriguing; however, it just went over the top at some point trying to be campy.

I expect a certain amount of bad grammar and poor editing in these cheap (or free) digital books, but this was just ridiculous. I am more anal than average about it, but it really takes away from the story.
